deserts & horizons have always fascinated me..
vast, open space that mesmorises you to the point of total hypnotic day dream.
(slowly realizing it has something to do with my discrete claustrophobia). anyway...
the drive into the desert had been imagined for months:-
flat orange land for miles / hazy horizons / bush shrubs rolling around in wind spurs / nothing but a highway in sight / cool resorts all around / famous people here / famous people there...
........yeah well, dad did always say
"just wait & see" ---- palm springs was NOTHING like what i had dreamt!! it was better x

my own private patio. upgrade from heaven.
surealism.
whether walking or driving, you cannot escape the feeling that the mountains are somehow fake.
they are so tall & so close that you feel like your watching some budget film where the background is a painted set that never moves.
the same peak follows you everywhere.
no front breaks + rocky streets + spastic = stack.
toenail still attached, just.

orange t shirt. above shrubs at base = super keen trekers.
took me a cruiser ride, but eventually i found my desert.
..snow??? definitely NOT what i had imagined.
lying pool side for 3 days thinking it was white rocks & clouds on top of all the mountains......
the minute you exit the crazy 12 lane highways & head toward palm desert you are greeted by hundreds of wind turbines. it is the windiest stretch of road in the entire U.S & the whole time all you can do is stare at these graceful beasts, they're HUGE & not one pair spins in unison.
i was literally shouting out loud "oh my god --- ooohhh -- ahhh --- they're insane!!! oh my god they're everywhere!!
......oh shit i'm getting blown off the road!!!"
......oh shit i'm getting blown off the road!!!"
the raddest desert escape ever.
when rich & building house - must come to palm springs to buy furniture - amazeballs vintage everywhere.
desert "peak" - best come down from LA's craziness ever. total desert relaxation. vintage shopping mecca.
desert "pit" - regretting never actually going swimming
(it was freezing!).
