ginni said...

she make us laugh loud, she make us be silly - but don't ever forget she be super smart.

ginni said santa barbara was "amazing"!!! smart cookie.

the drive to "amazing" santa barbara was mainly mega monster highways... wwaaahhh yark... will i ever get used to these things???
luckily by now i had at least located & mastered looking in my rear view mirror (laugh all you want - it's super hard to get used to looking to the right for it...).

my hotel was right off the exit of the highway of death, but as usual, before checking in i did a little drive by of the main st (seriously every town over here calls their main st - "main st".. makes navigating for semi-blonde ozzies so easy!).

"main st" did not disappoint. beautifully lined in trees, gorgeous little boutiques, & leads you straight to the beach (& of course the pier..).  my drive by had me excited - i was instantly comfortable in this mountain lined town xxx

check in... oh check in... never has a check in been so fine... soo fine came in the form of the young owner.. heavenly/amazing/ perfection/dream guy --- bliss. (bliss be married to the supermodel girl that owned the clothing store next door -of course..)

heavenly/amazing/perfection/dream guys hotel was super sweet - each room was uniquely decorated in one of kind decals. not sure what mine was meant to be... maybe some sort of super trendy post office??

day one in oprah's town was spent walking main street.  good morning coffee, bearable chill in the air, nicely dressed (super wealthy) locals walking around SMILING.
spent a good hour in a vintage/antique store picking out vintage postcards to be framed upon my return home, got amazed by the abundance of fresh veggies at the local farmers market that sprung up in the late afternoon, punished myself by going into sacks (no olivia, you cannot afford that Dianne Von Furstenberg dress...),  & found a few cute little bargains in some more reasonable stores instead...this unemployed budget really just doesn't suit me..

great day followed by another mexican FEAST at a cute little place in town. seriously, portions here are nuts! they give you free chips n salsa the minute you walk inside, then they expect you to still be hungry for a meal - dude you just gave me free nachos, why would i order them again!!! (of course fatty found room for more..)

day two i got my culture on again!
...now, know this, i had no idea what a "mission" was before i went.. so plse don't think i somehow found god on this trip!!
i paid the $5 to enter, bought some postcards, left some change in the tin & did the hour long tour in 10minutes! got some great photos & ran before any sort of spiritual/religion could rub off.

"amazing" santa barbara mission

took a short drive to montecito.. um.. if you don't own a lexus, merc or jeep grande - probably don't bother coming here. there is only a few little restaurants & hills lined in MANSIONS!! one belonging to oprah (only worth a mere $55million) & another to stephen speilberg..

escaped montecito & spent the afternoon lying in the grass by the beach, enjoying a self made picnic lunch in the sun xx
(& not thanking god for any of it..)

my final full day in "amazing" santa barbara was again spent getting my culture on!!  not only did i visit (& climb to the top of) the old court house, but i strolled the divine botanical gardens!
such a good tourist!
old court house - imagine a wedding here - divine!

...besides myself, i only saw 2 creepy solo dudes walking this trail... needless to say i killed that 2mile walk in record time.. scary!! ..but so beautiful -serenity definitely felt!

botanical gardens

what would time spent by the beach in california be without a visit to a pier..
crappy fish & chips (yes lucy... more chips..) but the view, ooh the view!!!!

farewell "amazing" santa barbara dinner

"amazing" santa barbara "peak" = feeling totally at home
"amazing" santa barbara "pit" = nothing. absolutely nothing.
