the one full day i had here was (lucky for me) a freakishly hot winter sunday & there were freaks everywhere (double lucky for me)!!
imagine... a dude with a gigantic yellow python wrapped around his neck walking the overly packed boardwalk?!? or how about a dero riding around on his pushy with a massive parrot on his shoulder?!? or less surprising... chicks walking the streets in only their triangle bikinis?!? colourful place that huntington beach...
thought i'd try my stuck up luck in newport, yeah well so did every other person on the planet! 2 1/2 hours of driving around the beautiful house lined streets along the beach & couldn't even find a park! no wonder everyone here rides push bikes, it's super flat on the beach & they have little paved pathways winding the whole way along. (before today - i thought these were super tacky...)
at least the slow traffic meant i could do loads of sight seeing & people watching from the car. was so keen on seeing one the real housewives!! (no luck..)
truly beautiful place, truly an awful lot of cash here too...
the pier is exactly like the tv show & the hills are definitely filled with cookie cutter houses - all the same / all MASSIVE.
the afternoon was the peak, found myself a grassy patch along huntington beach & settled in to watch the sunset - what a show!!!
oil rigs & smog - yes that would be an island behind the oil rig.. & yes that would be smog covering it!! not exactly the horizons i am used to staring at from the sand..
huntington pier. a beach just isn't a beach without a pier afterall...
& so the show began... i was seeing spots for hours afterwards, but nothing could distract me from looking away :)
next trip - will def stay IN newport (ooh or laguna!!)
